Questions
How does the lunar haircut calendar work?
Almanac lore says cutting hair while the Moon is growing (waxing) and in a fruitful sign like Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces or Taurus helps it grow back thicker; cutting under a waning Moon in a barren sign slows regrowth. It is tradition, not science.
When is the next best day to cut hair for growth?
Mon, Nov 9.
When is the next best day to trim and slow growth?
Wed, Oct 28.
Should I cut my hair on a waxing or waning Moon?
In Moon lore, it depends on your goal. Tradition pairs the waxing Moon with cutting hair to encourage growth, and the waning Moon with trimming to slow regrowth. Both pairings also call for a matching Moon sign. Practice varies, and this is tradition rather than science.
Which Moon signs are best for a haircut?
For growth, the best signs are Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces and Taurus, with Libra and Capricorn counted as good. Lore describes the best ones as fruitful, moist signs tied to growth. For slowing regrowth, the best signs are Aries, Gemini, Leo, Virgo, Sagittarius and Aquarius, which lore calls barren signs.
What are the best days to cut hair for growth by the Moon calendar?
They are days when the Moon is waxing and in Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces or Taurus. Days in Libra or Capricorn under a waxing Moon rate as good rather than best. No Moon sign rules a day out for this goal.
What are the best days to trim hair to slow growth?
They are days when the Moon is waning and in Aries, Gemini, Leo, Virgo, Sagittarius or Aquarius. Lore uses a shrinking Moon in a barren sign when you want less regrowth. No other signs count as good for this goal, and none rule a day out.
How does this site decide which Moon sign a day falls in?
It checks the Moon at local noon in your time zone, using the tropical zodiac of twelve 30° sections starting from the March equinox. If the Moon changes sign within 2 minutes of noon, the day is borderline and is rated on the less favorable side.
